Celebrate Spring, Celebrate Birds
Join us Friday night, as we kick off this year's festival with our Keynote Presentation by Anders & Beverly Gyllenhaal at the Living Arts & Science Center.
Anders and Beverly Gyllenhaal are both long-time journalists who between them have handled just about every job in their profession at a list of new organizations that’s just as long.
When they both stopped working fulltime a few years ago, they planned to slow down, but as you’ll hear in just a moment they found a story that they couldn’t pass up. They traveled 25,000 miles to 30 states and three countries and talked to more than 300 people at every station in the world of birds. Their book, as one observer put it, is in parts travel adventure, detective story and loving tribute to some of the world’s most colorful species – made all the more powerful by Anders’ photography you’ll see through these pages. The book is also a powerful call to action that makes the case for why birds are so important to the environment that we all share.
Light refreshments will be available, and there will be copies of their book available for purchase.
Welcome back to the Bluegrass Birding Festival! We are looking forward to a fun-filled day of birding. Central Kentucky has great opportunities for birding with over 350 documented species. Entrance to the festival will be FREE and open to the public. Our goals for this festival are to expose as many as possible to the hobby of bird watching and to educate on topics of wildlife and conservation.
